  Lap Joints on Beams

Our ancestors used joints like the ones in the first CAD picture to build much of the town I currently live in. Those buildings are still standing today unless the were destroyed by fire.

  dust collector duct run question

  7 ft bench build

Stretchers

1 1/8” aluminum for the take down connections

Mortised in steel plate and a ½” bolt going through to the tapped aluminum

This creates an incredibly strong joint.
I used some pine boards for a shelf.
