Video shows a lot of up and down, but I wouldn't think it difficult to make it in and out.

Hands free is the future, I'm sure there are plenty of other outlets. Google with: actuated furniture, actuated cabinets, hands free drawer opening, etc.

  Bosch 12V Rechargeable LED Light
Posted by: AZ Engineer - 01-03-2016, 04:35 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (1)

I have one and it's very good work light. Run time is supposed to be 12 hours; I get ~10–11 hours at ~30F. IMHO it's better than the Festool and only runs ~$39 as opposed to $195–$250.

New Rip fence for Hammer Slider
Posted by: axlotal - 01-03-2016, 03:03 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (1)

Sometimes manufactures have to cut some corners when trying to build a machine to a price point people are willing to Pay. Hammer is Felder's cheaper line of tools.

Edit, good looking job on the new fence.

What's a MM16 cost new these days? $2500 seems a little steep but I have no reference point so maybe it's an OK deal. Both machines sure look to be in great condition.

  Anyone Recognize These Shop-Made Knobs?

Sorry. I can't help on whose they are. If I had them, I don't think I'd want to use them. They're very nice.

I am a big fan of machinery being painted "machinery gray."

He said, though his last two tool purchases were Ridgid orange. Blech.

  crosscut sled
Posted by: Buckhunter - 01-03-2016, 11:12 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (8)

Richard,

I built this one from Highland Woodworking many years ago when I was starting out. I have been very happy with it, except that it takes up some space to store.

I bought the kit but could have just used the instructions and done without it. You could use oak guides in the miter slots. I put the plastic blade cover aside and never used it. I did make the big, laminated handle and "exit block". The handle, however you make it, is a must to keep your hands away from the blade. A stop block to prevent the blade from cutting through the front of the sled is a must.

  Boot dryer

I've been using a PEET boot dryer for 25+ years.
Linky

She must be doing something wrong if she's breaking it.

Edit: I used it 6 days a week for over 20 years running.
It still works well, even though I don't use it as much as I used to.

  Saw Files - Ethical Question???
Posted by: Admiral - 01-03-2016, 10:02 AM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (7)

I think if I found the files "unsatisfactory" in that they dulled very quickly, I would return them, even if it had been months since I purchased them. If I got normal expected service life out of the files, that is satisfactory and no return justified. There will always be those who take advantage of a policy.
